Role Summary

The Project & People Manager will be responsible for the smooth and accountable delivery of Dorpip's key projects while ensuring the volunteer and staff team is recruited, developed, and retained effectively. This hybrid role demands expert project governance (Prince2/PID) combined with strong people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

I. Project Management, Accountability & Delivery (50%)

* Project Delivery: Drive the planning, execution, monitoring, closing and celebration of multiple projects simultaneously.

* Accountability & Momentum: Actively hold the team accountable for commitments and milestones, constantly ensuring the project "balls are kept rolling" and blockages are resolved expediently. Use automation, and digital management and reporting tools

* Project Governance: Apply formal project methodology, including creating and managing key documentation such as the Project Initiation Document (PID), risk registers, and stage plans.

* Strategic Reporting: Prepare detailed performance reports, data analysis, and presentations for operational and strategic meetings to inform senior leadership and the board.

II. Human Resources & People Strategy (50%)

* Recruitment & Onboarding (Focus on Volunteers): Lead the entire recruitment life cycle for both staff and volunteers, ensuring efficient and positive onboarding experiences to integrate new members into the team structure (especially with asymmetric working).

* Retention & Performance: Design and implement a framework for overall team performance evaluation and feedback. Develop initiatives to boost retention and team engagement.

* Development Planning: Implement individual and team development plans, identify training needs, and coordinate learning opportunities to enhance staff and volunteer capabilities.

* Team Support: Serve as a key point of contact for team members, offering support to navigate project-related issues and fostering a positive, collaborative culture.

III. Person Specification

Formal Project Management Certification (Prince2 Foundation/Practitioner is required).

Formal HR qualification (CIPD Level 3/5 or equivalent experience).

Proven experience in utilizing Project Initiation Documents (PID) and associated Prince2 methodologies.

Experience in the charity/non-profit sector in Dorset.

Proven track record in managing and successfully delivering complex projects. Experience in volunteer management, specifically recruitment, retention, and engagement.

Demonstrable experience across core HR functions: recruitment, performance, and learning & development. Knowledge of UK employment law specific to part-time staff and volunteers.

Exceptional organizational and proactive planning skills to maintain daily project momentum.

Ability to work autonomously and manage a diverse workload across two functional areas.

High proficiency in using project management and reporting tools.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From £25,000.00 per year

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
