About this role:
Crystal Palace FC is looking for an experienced Deputy Safety Officer to join our team. This is a Casual role and is essential in ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of all individuals within the stadium during matchdays. The role requires a proactive and strategic approach to security management and a commitment to maintaining high standards in all aspects of stadium safety.It will require flexibility to work on weekdays and weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Working as a Deputy Safety Officer, proceeding support in the Control Room and from the stands.
  • Manage the coordination of stewarding and security personnel across all stands and entry points, ensuring the smooth flow of spectators and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Reviewing all stewarding and make any appropriate recommendations to the Club for consideration.
  • Responsible for Briefing all Stand managers on Matchdays
  • Evaluating the performance of the Stand Managers, Senior Stewards, Stewards and any specialist Stewards and initiate any remedial or other action that may be required.
  • Inspect stand prior to match day to ensure that it is functional and safe for all guests and visitors
  • Ensuring that all medical support and first aid rooms are ready and in place for match day
  • Working as Match Day Deputy Safety Officer from the Control Room and handle any issues and occurrences in compliance with the local authority
  • Monitoring stewarding levels on a match day to ensure effective equitable distribution of staff commensurate with the Safety Certificate.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.
  • Upholding and promoting the Club's policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety Management or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a large stadium or event venue.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety and security regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure, with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of security technology, including surveillance systems and communication tools.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as required.
  • A strong commitment to upholding safety standards and ensuring the smooth and secure operation of all club activities and events.
