We have recently opened a third home in Weston- Super Mare Leleka House,
already has an existing Utopia Manager and she is seeking qualified and experienced Shift Leaders who will join some of our existing experienced staff members to create a new Team in this new Home.
At Utopia we are passionate about caring for and supporting our young people to help them succeed. We do this by providing the highest standard of care in our Homes, making sure it is a stable, compassionate and calm environment to allow our young people to feel confident enough to make positive choices.
Our Home
Leleka House is a large 3 bed Victorian home providing medium to long-term care. Leleka House is a short walk from the beach and is situated on a residential road. We require an experienced and dedicated staff team who will help make this into a family home.
Our Young People
Our young people are between the ages of 8 and 18. They come to live with Utopia for a number of reasons and this my include neglect and trauma. They struggle with emotions and challenging behaviour - they need care, understanding, support and stability from us so they are able to confidently take their next step in life.
Main roles & Responsibilities
· Ensure the safeguarding of young people living in the home
· Maintaining a safe living and working environment
· Adhere to all policies and procedures and ensure that these are followed by team members
· Building and maintaining positive relationships with young people and to help increase their self-confidence and self-worth.
· To participate in and lead the day-to-day running of the home
· Undertake shift leading duties, taking a lead role in incident response
· Undertake the role of Keyworker for a young person
· Have good working knowledge of current legislation
· Building and maintain effective working relationships with professionals from other agencies, as well as parents and families of our young people
· Participating in the staff rota system to ensure adequate staff are available at all times
Qualifications and skills
Candidates should hold the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare qualification (or relevant equivalent).
Successful candidates must hold a valid driving licence.
Benefits and further information
This is a full time position, and you will be required to work 37.5 hours per week (which equates to 150 hours over a four week rota period) all shifts are overnight and will include some weekends and Bank Holidays.
Under the terms of the Children's Homes Regulations, due to the ages of the young people we look after, all applicants must be at least 23 years of age.
We offer a competitive salary of £35, £38,649.00 per annum for qualified candidates; this includes sleep in payments of £60 per night.
Staff receive a Ofsted Bonus if the Home retains or exceeds a 'Good' rating when inspected by Ofsted.
Shift Leaders who are part of the On-Call rota receive an enhancement of £50 - £75 (depending on qualifications) per On-Call shift.
We also offer on-going training and opportunities for development.
Successful candidates will be part of our pension plan.

All employees will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and will need to provide a current employer reference and a further reference from a previous employer.
