About The Practice

We are a growing, patient-centred private gynaecology practice operating across multiple sites, currently comprising c.30 gynaecologists and 2 GPs. Our practice is committed to delivering first class, evidence-based care in a supportive, collaborative environment. We provide expert advice and care with entire focus on the patient. Clinical activities at all locations are supported by a very capable patient services, nursing and HCA team.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and oversight across our facilities. This part-time role is ideal for a practising gynaecologist with at least six years of post-specialist experience, looking to expand their leadership portfolio while continuing clinical practice. The Medical Director will play a central role in shaping clinical standards, supporting colleagues, acting as a cultural standard bearer for the clinical team and guiding the strategic direction of clinical services as the practice continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Being an ambassador in the medical community for London Gynaecology.
  • Provide clinical leadership and strategic input into the ongoing development of the practice.
  • Maintain oversight of clinical quality, patient safety, and professional standards across all locations.
  • Support implementation of policies, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Offer clinical mentorship and support to gynaecologists and GPs within the practice.
  • Quarterly presentations to the Board of Directors.
  • Participate in the appointment and onboarding of new clinicians.
  • Contribute to incident review processes and risk management activities.
  • Serve as a key liaison between clinical staff and the management team.
  • Attend relevant meetings such as but not limited to monthly Governance and bi-monthly Clinician and Medical Advisory Committee meetings and provide clinical insight on relevant matters.

Essential Criteria

  • GMC-registered consultant gynaecologist, currently in clinical practice.
  • Minimum of 6 years post-CCT (or equivalent) experience in gynaecology.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-working skills.
  • A strong interest in clinical governance and service improvement.
  • Ability to work autonomously and balance strategic, commercial and practical considerations.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a clinical leadership or governance role.
  • Familiarity with private practice settings and regulatory requirements.
  • Interest in medical education and mentorship.
  • Capacity to add to their private clinical practice (1+ session per week).

Time Commitment & Remuneration

  • Expected time commitment: One half day per week (partly remote and partly in-person as appropriate) with any clinical work in addition.
  • Remuneration: Competitive, based on experience.

London Gynaecology is a leading, Private Equity backed private women's health practice, currently based at four locations: Our Centre of Excellence on Harley Street, our clinic based out of The Portland Hospital, one of London's leading private hospitals, our independent clinic in the City of London and our new clinic in Richmond. With over 20 consultants & GPs, the practice is busy and dynamic and sees in excess of 1500 patients monthly. Over the coming few years, we are planning to rapidly expand the number of clinics and clinical services we provide.
