Job Description
As a result of significant growth, Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd UK is seeking an established HSE Advisor based in Alness, Scotland to provide support, assurance, and advice on all matters relating to Health, Safety, Security, and Environment on a permanent, staff basis. HSE experience within an Overhead Lines, Underground Cabling and Civils environment is preferable although not essential.

In this role, you will be offering on-site HSSE support for multiple electricity transmission and distribution projects in Scotland, particularly in Alness, Scotland with SSE as our primary client.

We are looking for a dedicated professional to champion a robust HSSE culture, driving continuous improvement and engagement across our team. The ideal candidate will provide expert guidance on health, safety, and environmental matters, ensuring compliance with laws, policies, and client requirements to proactively manage risks. Responsibilities
What You Will Do:

  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the HSSE management system and progress against the Wood HSSE Performance Standards, making recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
  • Provide assistance and advice to the Project Manager, when needed, with responsibility for HSSE.
  • Contribute towards developing annual HSSE objectives and monitor and report on the implementation and effectiveness.
  • Assist with the identification of HSSE training needs and monitor delivery and recording.
  • Produce HSSE performance reports as required.
  • Promptly alert line and functional management to significant accidents and incidents. Where appropriate be involved in the investigation and ensure that the findings are reported and appropriately shared.
  • Support, investigate, and review accident and incident reports, identifying any trends and ensure that there is appropriate response to prevent future occurrence.
  • Planning, coordination, and delivery of internal audits for the project. Close out of assurance actions in a timely manner ensuring that findings are reported and shared appropriately and opportunities for improvement sought.
  • Maintain compliance with HSSE legislative requirements, provide updates as required.
  • Writing of technical documents such as procedures, management documents, investigation reports and audits.
  • Contribute towards development of bids, when applicable.
  • Cross site visits to provide support, coaching, collaboration, and best practice.
  • Provide support to the function and/or other projects, as necessary.
  • Provide cover for other HSSE team members.

Essential Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, And Skills

  • National Examination Board in Occupational Safety & Health (NEBOSH) certificate or Diploma/ equivalent.
  • ISO Lead Auditor.
  • Incident Investigation Training.
  • Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) membership.
  • Demonstrable experience in a HSE Advisory role preferably within the transmission & distribution sector with exposure to sites although this is not essential.
  • Proficiency with the CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Background in delivering HSE coaching and training.
  • Effective communication and presentation abilities with honed stakeholder management skillset to build good working relationships with clients, contractors, regulator, project, and construction management teams.
  • Initiative-taker with autonomous working style and ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Fluent spoken and written English language.
  • Competent MS Office Suite User.
  • Ability to work as part of a dispersed remote team and be able to communicate through collaboration software such as Microsoft teams.
  • Full clean UK driving license.
