Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Buyer to join our Operations Team in Driffield. This is a critical, full-time role responsible for managing the entire procurement lifecycle of MEP materials, as well as the strategic management of plant and equipment hire, to support our off-site modular build programs and on-site delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Strategy and Execution

  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Management: Accurately understand and translate BOMs received from the

Estimating Team into comprehensive purchasing schedules.

  • Scheduling and Logistics: Create and manage precise material purchasing schedules against the

overall build program.

  • Delivery Coordination: Closely assist the Stores Team to ensure all scheduled materials are delivered to the manufacturing facility exactly in line with the program timeline.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Work directly with the Estimating Manager and team to develop and

execute an "in-time and on-site" purchase strategy, mitigating delays and optimizing inventory in

line with our Industrialised M&E model.

Plant Hire & Off-Hire Management (NEW)

  • Logistics Management: Take full responsibility for managing the hire and off-hire of all necessary

plant and equipment.

  • Multi-Site Coordination: Coordinate plant requirements for both works at the Driffield facility and

at the various construction sites across the UK where our teams are operating.

  • Cost & Efficiency: Negotiate competitive rates with plant suppliers and ensure equipment is off-

hired promptly to minimise unnecessary costs.

  • Compliance: Ensure all hired plant meets required safety standards and is certified for use on all

relevant sites.

Supply Chain and Stakeholder Management

  • Supplier Relations: Maintain and enhance relationships with our established supply chain (for

materials and plant hire), ensuring transparency regarding current and future build program

requirements.

  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly review supplier performance, pricing, quality, and

commitment to sustainability to ensure the best value for the business.

  • Reporting: Provide regular updates on purchasing and plant management progress, potential

risks, and cost savings opportunities to senior management.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Buyer, ideally within the Modular Construction, M&E, or Manufacturing

sectors - other sectors will also be considered.

  • Demonstrable experience managing plant hire logistics and contracts across multiple remote

sites would be preferable but is not essential.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage complex procurement and logistics

schedules.

  • Proficiency in interpreting Bill of Materials (BOMs) and technical specifications.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Competence in using Microsoft product suite
