This is an exciting opportunity to work within Wirral Mental Health Support Team (MHST) . We have 3 x posts available within the team.

The Band 5 Education Mental Health Practitioner/CYPWP will work with colleagues based across 4 x locations within Wirral, working closely with education settings and professionals supporting children, young people and their families.

The post involves working directly with schools, colleges and settings providing information, advice and guidance through consultation, training, direct work with children and young people and their parents / caregivers and delivering evidence based interventions.

We require successful applicants to have professional registration with recognised National Body (BPS, BABCP) OR be able to obtain this within 6 months of start date. Note if the successful applicant does not hold professional registration they will be recruited to a 6 month fixed term contract to allow time for professional registration to be completed. The contract will be amended to permanent once professional registration has been confirmed.

This post is full time hours per week. We are happy to accept applications from Trainee EMHPs.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work within Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Mental Health Support Team (Wirral MHST) and provide a range of assessment and other interventions on an individual and wider systems basis under close clinical supervision from experienced staff.

Accessing regular case management and clinical supervision on an individual and group basis will be an important aspect of the role.

The post-holder will be able to deliver a range of 1:1 and group Low Intensity CBT based interventions for children, young people, and parents/carers.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Qualified Post Graduate Certificate or above from a provider university as part of the CYP-IAPT programme e.g. EMHP, CWP
  • Professional registration with recognised National Body (BPS, BABCP) within 6 months of qualification.
Desirable criteria
  • Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree.
  • Demonstrates continued professional development within the mental health arena as evidenced by certificated course from recognised training bodies.
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of child psychology and development
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present
  • Demonstrate an understanding of parenting and behaviour management interventions
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the impact of multisystemic issues such as home, school and community.
  • Knowledge of child protection issues, safeguarding and other relevant legislation
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological and systemic therapies and how it relates to this post
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience of safeguarding vulnerable people
  • Experience of multi-agency working
  • Experience of working in a mental health and/or CYP setting
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of working in the local community
  • Experience of routine outcome monitoring
