Senior Engineering Buyer– Bedfordshire – Permanent (37.5 hours per week) – Up to £58,500 per annum – SC Clearance

Our client are a global Defence and Aerospace company working closely with government bodies and MOD.

They are looking for a Senior Buyer with experience in procuring technical engineering grade components for defence related activities.

You will be managing complex procurement processes and negotiating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.

Working Patterns: This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days on site per week. This is a 4 day working week with Monday – Thursday as mandatory and you will need to be on site Monday and Tuesday.

The Key Responsibilities of a Senior Engineering Buyer:

  • Undertaking the procurement process including issuing RFQ's, Invitation to Tender, Terms and Conditions, negotiations, bid evaluations, and award of contract.
  • Delegating procurement and signing supplier agreements and purchase orders
  • Negotiating with suppliers to ensure best value is achieved.
  • Managing supplier performance to meet Technical, Schedule, Quality and Cost requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships with key internal and external business contacts.
  • Ensuring procurement activities are compliant.
  • Identifying risks are ensure they are mitigated.
  • Providing the key interface between internal customers and suppliers to ensure that communication is effectively managed.
  • Supporting internal and external reviews of supplier performance.
  • Contributing to the continual improvement of the supply chain processes.

Below is a list of Key Skills required for the Senior Engineering Buyer role, however you will not be expected to have everything:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Engineering Buyer or related role.
  • Buying experience for complex drawn items (Mechanical Assemblies, PCB-A).
  • Experience within a high volume, fast production rate environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively manage stakeholders' expectations at a variety of levels.
  • Able to complete tasks under minimal guidance / supervision.
  • High level of supplier engagement, delivering successful outcomes.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Supply chain experience in the defence environment.
  • CIPS.
