The Role:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate financial records and supporting the month-end close process across multiple entities and currencies. Acting as a key contact from the UK team for the Head Office in Chicago, the role provides technical accounting expertise, ensures compliance with policies and standards, and supports leadership through analysis and problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and review Accounts Payable data input, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.
  • Maintain and manage vendor relationships, addressing queries and resolving discrepancies.
  • Prepare and post month-end journals, including multi-currency entries.
  • Perform extensive month-end balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances.
  • Act as the primary point of contact in the UK for queries from Head Office in Chicago.
  • Conduct investigative analysis and provide financial insights as required.
  • Deputise for the UK Finance Manager, supporting leadership and decision-making when needed.
  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register and oversee lease accounting in line with company policies.
  • Support G&A budget preparation and monitoring, collaborating with budget owners as required.
  • Serve as the key contact for the Office Manager, Marketing Director, HR, and Executive Assistants regarding invoices, expenses, and candidate payments, providing clear guidance and support with a strong customer-service approach.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Solid experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
  • Proven ability to work across multiple countries and currencies.
  • Familiarity with ERP/financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) — completed or in progress.
  • Prior experience in a multinational or global corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of international reporting standards (US GAAP, IFRS, or UK GAAP).
