Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom Jacobs Full time £60,000 - £90,000 per year

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

Shape the Future of Transport Modelling with Jacobs
Jacobs has cultivated a thriving and ambitious pipeline of transport modelling projects, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced demand modeller to make a meaningful impact. By joining our team, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering high-profile work for clients such as Heathrow Airport Ltd, the National Transport Authority in Ireland, Transport for the North, Transport for London, and a range of Local & Combined Authorities and Middle East partners.

As a new team member, you'll bring your expertise to a diverse portfolio of projects, contributing to the development and application of advanced demand modelling components using tools like VISUM, EMME, CUBE, and Bentley's OpenPaths. Your insights will help shape strategic transport solutions, influence infrastructure investment decisions, and improve mobility for communities across the UK and internationally.

Beyond demand modelling, you'll have the opportunity to expand your skills into public transport modelling, cycling assignment, and airport surface access models. We're also pioneering disaggregate (agent-based) modelling methods—offering you the chance to be at the forefront of innovation in transport analytics.

This role is designed to empower you. You'll be central to the delivery of key workstreams, with clear pathways for growth—whether you aspire to lead projects or deepen your technical expertise. You'll be supported by our Strategic Modelling & Data capability lead, ensuring exposure to a wide range of development opportunities.

You'll also help shape the future of our demand and public transport modelling capabilities, bringing fresh perspectives and driving innovation. For the right candidates, we're open to shaping multiple roles, including those that blend transport modelling with data science using Python, R, and other analytical tools.

We embrace flexible and hybrid working, and with offices across the UK, we welcome applicants from all locations. If you're ready to take the next step in your career and want to be part of a team that's making a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.

Here's what you'll need

  • A numerate degree (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Programming, or Data). Other degrees are welcome if you have strong quantitative skills.
  • Experience in trip generation, variable (Transport) demand modelling, and multi-modal forecasting using software such as VISUM, CUBE, EMME, OpenPaths, ALOGIT, or bespoke tools. Scripting skills are highly valued.
  • Strong data analysis capabilities. Familiarity with Excel, Access/SQL, Python, or R is desirable.
  • Experience in public transport modelling (CUBE, EMME, VISUM) is a plus.
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve complex problems.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality technical work.

Our colleagues enjoy project diversity and global reach within collaborative and innovative work environment as well as opportunities for professional growth and development.
