Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for creating high-quality dishes. This role involves overseeing food preparation, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. The Chef will play a vital role in inspiring the team, managing kitchen operations, and upholding the cafe's reputation for excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient food production and service
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Oversee food safety practices and ensure compliance with health regulations
  • Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste
  • Develop new menu items in collaboration with management, considering current trends and customer preferences
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to enhance their skills and performance
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment at all times
  • Ensure timely delivery of orders while maintaining high quality standards
  • Assist in managing restaurant operations during busy periods, including serving customers when necessary

Skills

  • Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management within a hospitality or restaurant setting
  • Supervising experience with a track record of leading successful teams
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Leadership qualities that motivate and inspire team members
  • Competence in food production techniques across various cuisines
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with staff and management
  • Experience in hospitality or restaurant environments is highly desirable
