A Day In The Life Of A Critical Systems Engineer

As a Critical Systems Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of critical utilities and electrical distribution systems. Your work will help maintain compliance with Health & Safety, cGMP/regulatory, and corporate standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives to achieve industry best practices.

Around 80% of your responsibilities will involve process improvements, regulatory compliance, system optimization, contractor/vendor management, project support, data analysis, and maintaining quality records (e.g., deviations, CAPAs, and change controls). The remaining 20% of your time will involve hands-on technical tasks such as diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and carrying out preventative maintenance activities. This balance ensures a comprehensive approach to both strategic oversight and technical execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Equipment Performance: Monitor, evaluate, and enhance the performance of production and critical utilities equipment to minimize downtime and waste.

• Preventative Maintenance: Plan, schedule, and execute both planned and unplanned preventative maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with schedules.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement system and process enhancements to boost reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

• Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all operational, batch, and supporting documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with regulatory standards.

• Procedure Ownership: Develop, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures while maintaining training compliance.

Problem Solving: Investigate non-conformances, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.

• Team Collaboration: Minimize operational disruptions through effective planning, communication, and teamwork.

Contractor Management: Oversee and manage contractors to ensure site operations are maintained safely and effectively.

Project Implementation: Lead small-scale projects and drive ongoing improvements across systems and processes.
