If so, our Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist role is the post for you.

Main duties of the job

The FCMHT outreach service aims to bridge the gap between inpatient and the community. Our Outreach team provide support to our service users helping them with the transition back into the community. As a team we aim to prevent admission, support the discharge process and reduce readmission rates.

You will be working alongside the Norfolk Forensic community mental health team and the wider secure services. We are embedded in the Norfolk and Suffolk FCMHT along with Psychiatrists, Mental Health Practitioners / Care Coordinators, Psychologists and Psychology Assistants, Social Workers, Assistant Practitioners and Senior Community Workers, and Physical Health Practitioners. Occupational Therapy staff from the forensic community outreach team lead on the development and provision of occupation focused aspects of team delivery, specialist occupational assessments, as well as support for, and supervision of, other members of the team.

The post holder must be able to travel independently across the county and be required to engage with the wider multi-disciplinary team. Trust wide mandatory and statutory training is also required for the role. The successful candidates must have experience as an Occupational Therapist and knowledge of Occupational Therapy input into risk assessment & risk management. The role involves supporting service users with complex mental health needs and a forensic/offending history.

The successful post holder will be supported with regular supervision, a yearly appraisal and CPD opportunities including in-house training, peer support sessions, and ongoing learning opportunities.

  • Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
Experience

  • Post registration experience in mental health.
Desirable criteria
  • Supervising students / staff.
Skills
Essential criteria
  • Ability to deliver OT assessment / treatment with designated client group.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage own caseload and prioritise.
Other
Essential criteria
  • Ability to travel independently.
