Your Role

Amber Labs is seeking a highly skilled Atlassian Specialist to join our dynamic team supporting a major UK Government Department. This is a unique opportunity to work on a high-impact programme, managing and evolving the Atlassian toolset within a complex AWS-based infrastructure.

What You'll Do

As our Atlassian Specialist, you'll be the go-to expert for all things Atlassian. You'll lead the administration, support, and enhancement of tools like Jira, Confluence, Crowd, and Bitbucket, ensuring seamless collaboration across the programme. You'll also contribute to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure support.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Crowd, Bitbucket)
• Manage projects, workflows, permissions, and plugins (e.g., ScriptRunner)
• Plan and implement tool upgrades and patches aligned with monthly Atlassian releases
• Maintain plugin health and license compliance
• Collaborate with test teams to ensure robust coverage
• Support CI pipelines and troubleshoot platform issues
• Provide on-call support for collaborative tooling hosted on AWS

Your Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Proven experience as an Atlassian Administrator
• Deep understanding of Jira project structures, workflows, boards, filters, and JQL
• Strong grasp of Confluence spaces, permissions, macros, and integrations
• Experience with Crowd and Bitbucket administration
• Familiarity with Atlassian APIs and scripting (Bash, Python)
• Comfortable working in Linux/Unix environments
• Exposure to AWS infrastructure and cloud-native architectures
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Nginx, Terraform

Desirable:

• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins or similar tools
• Git/GitHub/GitLab proficiency
• Understanding of DevOps principles and automation
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Prior experience in government or regulated environments
