About the Person
We are seeking a highly skilled
Legislation Expert (VEX)
to join our client's dynamic R&D team within the automotive sector. This pivotal role serves as the key link between the legislation function and engineering departments, ensuring regulatory clarity and compliance across all vehicle programmes.
The successful candidate will play a vital part in interpreting new and amended legislation, consulting with cross-functional teams to assess impact, and supporting the integration of these changes into ongoing projects.
Key Skills & Experience
- Act as the primary point of contact for distributing regulatory and legislative information within the department, ensuring all affected Engineers and Functional Managers are informed of relevant updates.
- Assess and interpret new or amended legislation to determine its applicability, consulting with the
VKO
, Functional Owners, and subject matter experts to ensure accurate implementation. - Gather and provide structured feedback from departmental Engineers to the VKO, supporting alignment and clarity on legislative requirements.
- Establish and maintain strong networks and other expert bodies to clarify legislative impacts, resolve open points, and ensure consistent interpretation across functions.
- Develop and maintain Project Specific Legislation Roadmaps (PSLRs) in alignment with PEP gateways, ensuring legislative considerations are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
- Technical Knowledge /experience gained in Engineering (R&D), including vehicle development lifecycles. Familiarity with vehicle regulatory processes.
As a
VEX Legislation Specialist, your main duties will include:
- Actively contribute to VKO/VEX working groups, sharing expertise and supporting alignment on legislative matters.
- Collaborate with VKO, technical experts, and VEX specialists across brands to interpret legislation and provide formal recommendations to R&D functions.
- Review and interpret regulatory and legislative guidance issued by the VKO, ensuring clarity and relevance for engineering teams.
- Document and distribute updates on legislative changes to affected developers, design engineers, and leadership, ensuring timely awareness and action.
- Partner with developers and engineers to assess the impact of legislative requirements, identifying associated risks, limitations, or opportunities.
- Provide expert feedback and recommendations on legislative concerns or required actions within VKO/VEX working groups.
- Act as a point of contact for engineers seeking clarification on legislative requirements or design implications.
- Support the creation, review, and communication of regulatory and legislative documentation.
- Evaluate product compliance against specific regulations, providing informed decisions and formal statements where required.
- Identify and define necessary product actions to maintain or achieve compliance with new or amended regulations.
Please note, this role is deemed outside of IR35 – you will be operating as a Limited company Contractor.
