This is an exciting opportunity for a professional, compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly team at the world-renowned Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital.
About us
The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital was established in Aylesbury in 1832 and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region.
The ownership of the hospital was transferred to our new management team in January 2023. By joining our existing portfolio, the hospital is now run as a professionally and provides clinical care to both private, insured and NHS patients, with a strong ethos on caring for our staff.
The clinical outcomes of the hospital are of the highest standards. The latest CQC report rated our hospital standards as good across all parameters. Extensive rejuvenation of the estate and updating of the clinical facilities has already started. Phase one of the projects included just completed included complete refurbishment of the outpatient area and reception, wards, staff facilities and residential accommodation. Phase 2 includes construction and set up of a comprehensive radiology service including CT and MRI and construction of operating theatre and endoscopy suites.
The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital is, managed and run by clinicians. All colleagues are encouraged to feel empowered and to have an active voice on the management of their services.

Responsibilities
- Assist in high-quality care
- Assist the trained nurse to care for patients within the agreed protocols
- Contribute to the safe care and support of patients
- Assist Consultants during minor operations within agreed protocols
- Communicate clearly using the written and spoken word ensuring the supervising trained nurse countersigns all legal documentation
- Chaperone in Consulting rooms and Imaging as required
- Demonstrate awareness of legislation regarding client group e.g. safe guarding children, adults at risk adults, and mental health issues and act appropriately when required
- Liaise between patients and staff and report to qualified staff any changes in the patient's condition
- Assist the trained nursing team in the initial management of medical emergencies within the department and facilitate subsequent transfer to an appropriate designated facility either internal or external.
- Assist patients in their daily routines, encouraging development and maintenance of independence in line with the patient's individual care/rehabilitation plan
- Ensure the wellbeing of patients is prioritised throughout their time at the Hospital
- Provide therapeutic activities as directed by the patient's individual rehab plan
- Support other departments as required to ensure clinical excellence and quality care are experienced at all times
- Maintaining accurate and legible records of care
- Serve meals to patients, and assisting with consumption if required
- Inform Nurse in Charge of any untoward incidents, accidents, complaints or problems and report onto EMS – including PREVENT, whistleblowing concerns and safeguarding
- Promote and ensure an environment conducive to the continuing prevention and control of infection for all staff, patients and visitors
Our Ideal Candidate
- Qualified to NVQ level 2 or be prepared to train to this level
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Able to adapt communication methods to meet the needs of different individuals
- Able to build effective relationships and maintain professional boundaries
- Patient and empathetic when working with patients and supporting colleagues
- Cultural sensitive and possesses awareness to create an inclusive environment
- Experience in a hospital setting
