Post: SEN Learning Support Assistant

Hours: 25 hours per week (Monday to Friday 9:00 to 14:30 with 30 minutes lunch)

Term Time including inset days (39 weeks per year)

Contract: Fixed term - linked to SEN funding, for a child who is expected to leave St James the Great Colchester at the end of the summer term in 2031.

Salary: Scale 3, Point 5 £14,819.42 per annum (£25,583.30 pro-rata)

Start date: 5th January 2026

Location: St James the Great Church of England Primary School and Nursery Colchester

An opportunity has arisen at St James' School for a SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our team to support a child with SEN funding.

It would be beneficial (but not essential) to have an understanding of visual impairment, and the strategies required to support a pupil with these needs.

The successful candidate must:

· Hold an NVQ level 2 in learning support

· Have experience and enjoy working on a 1 to 1 basis with children

· Communicate well with members of staff and pupils

· Work well as part of a team

· Display a professional attitude

· Be able to use their own initiative

· Remain calm under pressure

· Have a sense of humor

· Be committed to supporting the values and ethos of our Church school
