Summary

We're now looking for a motivated Trade Counter Sales Advisor to join our small, close-knit team. This is a varied role combining customer service, sales, and practical yard duties - perfect for someone who enjoys variety in their workday.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them with their enquiries.
  • Handle phone and email enquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Provide quotes and process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Learn product information to confidently assist customers.
  • Maintain organised filing systems for documents and records.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure all customers receive prompt service.
  • Demonstrate initiative by identifying and completing tasks without requiring constant direction.
  • Arrange and schedule deliveries.
  • Prepare goods for delivery and load customers' vehicles directly.
  • Operate forklifts to move and load products (training provided).
  • Prepare pallets for shipping, including wrapping and banding (training provided).
  • Maintain yard organisation — restocking racks, sweeping, and tidying as needed.
  • Book in incoming deliveries and manage stock as required.
  • Operate the JCB to fill aggregate bins (training provided).
  • Use Sage 200 office software (full training provided).

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English language.
  • Proven experience in sales or customer service is preferred.
  • Basic math skills for transaction processing.
  • Willingness to learn and take on a variety of tasks.
  • Time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Comfortable with physical work and lifting heavy products safely.
  • Computer literacy skills (email, word, excel, etc.)
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work well as part of a small team - will work alongside a manager at all times.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary of £30,000 – £35,000, depending on experience.
  • Full training on Sage 200, forklift and JCB operation, palletising, and product knowledge.
  • A varied, hands-on role with both office and yard work.
  • Supportive team environment with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule.
  • 29 days of annual leave (including bank holidays and Christmas shutdown).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
