King's Lynn Shift Operations & Maintenance Technician

We have a rewarding opportunity for Shift Operations & Maintenance Technicians to join us at King's Lynn power station

King's Lynn is a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant with a capacity of 382MW and can meet the needs of up to 400,000 households. The highly flexible plant has an efficiency of 54 percent.

Main Purpose of the Role

As a member of the Operations and Maintenance Team, you will contribute towards delivering the safe, reliable operation and commercial performance of our plant along with supporting ongoing continuous improvements to maximise the potential of the station within the RWE Gas UK portfolio. The post holder will be responsible for operating King's Lynn plant locally from the Central Control Room working with the Remote Support provided by Staythorpe Power Station. This will include fault diagnosis and breakdown recovery.

We will require you to perform O&M duties on a shift basis as required, as well as collaborating with site-based maintenance team, supporting with plant outages and recommissioning as required. As the trend towards growing volumes of renewable generation continues, you should expect maintenance routines to form a growing part of your core role.

  • Undertaking the duties required of you under RWE Safety Rules to operate a safe system of work.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Have a recognised engineering or operations background, or craft skill in an electrical, mechanical or C&I discipline. HNC, ONC, or equivalent.
  • Prior process operations and maintenance experience.
  • Have effective interpersonal skills and be proficient in the use of applicable business IT systems such as Microsoft Office, SAP.
  • Be a self-motivated, versatile individual able to work with minimum supervision, whilst being able to provide support to the team.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations and directives.
  • Values and Behaviours – Role modelling the RWE desired behaviours; Trust, Passion and Performance. This will mean working with others in an open, transparent and consistent way and in a manner that demonstrably puts the needs of RWE Generation ahead of individual departmental or personal objectives.
  • Possess an understanding of safety management systems including safe systems of work e.g. permit to work systems.
  • Flexible and creative in their approach to supporting the Station and Portfolio through flexible working hours and application of skills.
  • Ability and willingness to retrain and develop new skills.
