We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post is day and nights.
We have an exciting opportunity for an accredited Emergency Medicine Consultant that is looking to work in our Adult Emergency Department.
The Emergency Department has an attendance of 195,000 new patients each year. The department has a large academic and clinical skills area and has a strong education and research ethos. We are looking to appoint a Fulltime Consultant with a Sessional breakdown of EM:8 PA's 2 SPA.
This post represents an exciting opportunity to join our established team of Consultants in Emergency Medicine, providing senior care and leadership within the department.
It is expected that the successful applicants will have a high clinical profile with the drive and initiative to achieve and sustain the highest standards of emergency medical care. In January 2018, the Minister for Health announced the government's commitment to the development of a Scottish Trauma Centre Network over a 5-year phased funding plan this network is made up of 4 Regional Major Trauma Centres based in North, East, West and South/East Scotland.

The network will provide all aspects of trauma care, from the point of injury to rehabilitation, in the region. At the heart of the West Regional network, is the Major Trauma Centre which will be sited at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in Glasgow.
To continue to support this new development, we are seeking to appoint 1 additional consultant in Emergency Medicine, who will allow us to move towards a 24/ 7 consultant presence. Candidates should have experience of working with EM and will work in one of the busiest Emergency departments in the country.
The department also has an active research interest and is recognised for the quality of training it delivers to all its staff.
This job plan is negotiable and will be agreed between the successful applicant and the Clinical Director. NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde initially allocates all full-time consultants 10 PAs made up of 8 PAs in Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2 core Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) for CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings.
