Our client, a well-established UK technology consultancy, is seeking a
Software Developer – Consultant
to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for developers who are passionate about building impactful digital products and delivering real value across government and commercial sectors.
You'll be part of a collaborative, agile team that applies best practices in software engineering, helping clients deliver reliable, user-centred digital solutions. The role is varied, technically engaging, and offers continuous opportunities for professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with agile methodologies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement user stories and maintain team backlogs.
- Contribute to testing activities and uphold code quality standards.
- Apply
test-driven development (TDD)
,
pair programming
, and
mobbing
practices. - Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver value-driven outcomes.
- Support and participate in internal communities of practice to share knowledge and best practice.
- Maintain compliance with information security and quality standards.
Requirements
Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in
Java
(preferred). - Additional experience with
Scala
,
Kotlin
, or
Ruby
is highly advantageous. - Solid understanding of
Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
principles. - Deep knowledge of
testing concepts
, tools, and techniques. - Familiarity with
Government Digital Service (GDS)
standards and toolkit. - Experience working in
agile environments
using iterative delivery methods. - A strong interest in learning new technologies and developing as a
T-shaped professional

Consulting Skills:
- Collaborative and adaptable approach to working with clients and teams.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable taking ownership of tasks and contributing to overall project success.
Additional Requirements:
- UK Security Clearance (SC)
or eligibility to obtain it. - Experience delivering digital services for UK government projects is desirable.
