Sexual Exploitation Outreach Support Worker

Hours & working Pattern:

  • 35hrs per week (Full time)
  • Generally, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work
  • Flexibility on start and finish times to support a work-life balance
  • Compulsory participation 2nd tier on-call rota (Paid)
  • All team members must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of the Charity and the people we support

Contract: Permanent (subject to ongoing funding)

Salary: £23,970 pro rata rising to £24,480 (after successful completion of 6-month probationary period)

Area of work: Caerphilly (with occasionally travel and work in Newport)

Accountable to: Sexual Exploitation Outreach Team Leader

Purpose of the post

  • To provide an insight into the need for current and future Housing support services in conjunction with Housing Partners to reduce or eliminate homelessness for anybody experiencing sexual exploitation within Caerphilly.

  • To share knowledge and provide experiential learning opportunities to colleagues, partners and stakeholders.

  • To provide a proactive service to any person who is at risk of, or who is being exploited through the sex industry and assist those using the service to make informed decisions and positive changes to their lives.

  • Multi agency partnership working providing specialist support and crisis interventions to those being sexually exploited, or are at risk of, across all platforms within the sex industry.

Responsibilities

To deliver a high quality, trauma informed, person led exploitation outreach support service across Caerphilly whilst closely working with our Exploitation Team based in Newport.

To understand the issues surrounding sexual exploitation and different locations and platforms that this may occur.

To network with confidence with other agencies and professionals whilst promoting the service and sharing knowledge and providing experiential learning opportunities.

To provide an understanding into the need for current and future housing support services to reduce or eliminate homelessness for anybody experiencing sexual exploitation within Caerphilly

Whilst working on an outreach basis, reach out and engage with those who are being sexually exploited, or at risk of, building and sustaining ongoing, trusting relationships to facilitate access to a wide range of services whilst providing a referral and support gateway to access those services.

To identify cases of sexual exploitation and other forms of exploitation and assist and support victims of exploitation, human trafficking, VAWDASV whilst advocating for those to have a voice and provide feedback within the organisation and the sector, including surveys, listening sessions and external opportunities.

To promote some of the existing Gwent wide services, which whilst available to people in Caerphilly, may not be as widely known about currently.

Contribute to challenging the stigma that surrounds those being exploited through the sex industry and ensure that they, who are often a hidden population and who do not necessarily access mainstream services, are not misrepresented.

Carry a case load of clients who the service supports via the outreach provision and provide cover when necessary- This could be covering within our Newport team.

Undertake risk assessments with/ on individuals, locations and activities and review accordingly.

Develop support plans in line with the needs of those we support, and review accordingly enabling those being exploited to achieve meaningful and impactful outcomes, led by them.

Support to secure emergency/ temporary accommodation for those who need it and liaising with the local authority and housing providers to ensure adequate, safe housing is provided.

Provide a range of harm reduction advice, information, health, crisis intervention and other initiatives/ services.

Work in partnership and with a multi-agency approach, with the Local Authority, Police, Drug + Alcohol Services, Mental Health Services, Health, Sexual Health, Probation, etc. aiming to safeguard individuals and manage the risks associated with supporting vulnerable, marginalised people experiencing sexual exploitation.

Participate in regular information sharing meetings and provide accurate information.

Ensure accurate and timely records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service, including inputting information into our Information Management System.

Support the Team Leader/ Service Manager in providing data for reports for Welsh Women's Aid (WWA) Statistics, HSG and other relevant reports for projects, services, and funders.

Being responsive to requests from other members of the organisation for quantitative and qualitative data, including for example, the creation of case studies.

General

To represent the organisation at external meetings, public events, conferences, and similar ensuring that the organisation's reputation is protected and enhanced.

To actively work in partnership with other agencies and organisations to achieve better outcomes for women affected by VAWDASV.

Participate in team meetings, supervision, and appropriate training.

To work within the organisation's policies and procedures at all times.

To foster a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and innovation that ensures our support and services are safe.
