Job Overview:
We are looking to recruit a GP Receptionist. We would ideally like someone with experience in working in a GP practice and have a knowledge of our GP Clinical System EMIS Web. You must have excellent customer service skills.
The contracted hours are approximately 22 hours per week. You must be able to work under pressure and be flexible with working hours, as you may be asked to work overtime or vary the hours worked depending on circumstances as they arrive. Working hours are subject to change in light of any future changes within the practice. We also work 1 in 5 Saturdays so would be required to cover those ad hoc.
The role is to offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
The role of Receptionist is a key role within our practice and we are looking forward to welcoming a new member to the team in what is an exciting time in General Practice.
Duties to include
- Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information and changes in accordance with practice procedures and adding new patients as required
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers always checking telephone numbers and addresses at each contact
- Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required, including word/data processing, filing.
- To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
- Scan letters to patient notes as appropriate
- Be flexible and able to cover all reception duties as necessary and covering staff annual / sick leave
- Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records
- Any other tasks allocated by managers
Education:
- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
- Customer service: 3 years (required)
- Administrative: 3 years (required)
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £12.51 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 22 per week
