Kalm Kitchen is now entering an exciting new phase with the launch of Kalm Club, a sub-brand designed to bring an elevated hospitality experience to selected non-wedding venues. Through Kalm Club, we will partner with forward-thinking organisations to deliver the same creativity, quality and attention to detail that define our events, but in fresh and dynamic settings.

Hurlands, a brand-new pickle and padel ball club opening in Farnham in early 2026, is one of the first venues to join this journey, offering an opportunity to shape a new chapter for the business and set the standard for future partnerships.

Role Overview

The Hospitality Duty Manager plays a central role in shaping the guest experience at Hurlands, overseeing the café-restaurant, bars and supporting the delivery of corporate events. This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys building strong teams and can balance exceptional service standards with commercial awareness.

The role exists to ensure that every element of the daily operation runs smoothly. You will motivate and support your team, uphold high standards of food, drink and hospitality, and take responsibility for the underlying systems that make the venue function. By championing consistency, efficiency and creativity, you'll help establish Hurlands as a destination where guests return, teams grow and revenue thrives.

This role is for a down to earth and hands on individual who is happy to sort out the small as well as the big projects. Every day will be different; you will be on the ball with bags of energy and enthusiasm. Solutions driven and practical, your administrative skills will be excellent and creative flair both innovative and on trend. You will be resourceful and have a strong understanding of up-and-coming trends across all industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the café, bars and restaurant spaces at Hurlands to deliver a smooth, consistent and high-quality guest experience.
  • Motivate, support and develop permanent and casual team members to maintain exceptional standards of service, food presentation and professionalism.
  • Manage commercial performance including labour control, waste reduction, stock levels and revenue opportunities across bars and café operations.
  • Implement and uphold Kalm Kitchen's operating procedures and contribute to their ongoing refinement.
  • Manage weekly operational planning including rotas, ordering, preparation schedules and event support.
  • Support menu roll-outs and specials In line with agreed plans
  • Empower the team to resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally, ensuring positive outcomes and brand-appropriate service.
  • Support the delivery of corporate events, ensuring smooth coordination between café, bars, kitchen and event teams.
  • Oversee bar service standards, ensuring product knowledge, responsible alcohol service and consistent drink quality.
  • Assist with new menu launches, seasonal changes and promotional activity to boost engagement and sales.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records including stock counts, wastage logs, staff performance notes and maintenance requests.
  • Build positive relationships with suppliers and ensure deliveries, quality checks and returns are managed effectively.
  • Lead or support recruitment, onboarding and performance management of team members.

Sustainability Strategy Development

  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies that align with BCorp standards and company objectives which are relevant to your role.
  • Regularly assess and report on environmental performance metrics within your department, identifying areas for improvement.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in sustainable practices within the catering operations.
  • Encourage staff feedback and suggestions to enhance our environmental and social initiatives.

Other Responsibilities

  • Promote compliance within the health and safety regulations and safe working practices in line with current legislation.
  • Represent Kalm Kitchen and its clients, promoting the company values to an external audience in support of growth.

Bar and Café Standards

  • Strong product knowledge and responsible alcohol service

  • Effective execution of menu launches and specials

Event Support

  • Smooth coordination with event teams

  • Positive event feedback related to café/bar service

Sustainability & Compliance

  • Progress against sustainability goals and reduction of environmental impact

  • Completion of sustainability reporting for the department

  • Full compliance with health and safety requirements

  • Implementation of new ideas that improve efficiency, guest experience or cost control
