Machine Control Technician

We are seeking a motivated and technically minded individual to join our team as a Machine Control Technician. This is a specialised role supporting the installation, setup, and maintenance of machine control systems on heavy plant machinery across our projects in Ireland and UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission machine control hardware, including sensors, modems, GPS/GNSS antennas, radios, and in-cab display units.
- Carry out fault-finding, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance on machine control systems.
- Work closely with site teams to ensure equipment is installed correctly and operates in line with project and manufacturer requirements.
- Support ongoing system upgrades, calibration, and integration with hydraulic and mechanical machine functions.
- Assist with basic surveying and measurement tasks (training provided).
Ideal Candidate
- Background in Automotive, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering.
- Experience as an auto electrician, mechanic, or technician working with heavy machinery is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of plant components (boom, stick, bucket) and how hydraulic systems interface with control technology.
- Practical experience installing electrical, mechanical, or electronic components on plant or vehicles.
- Good mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose technical issues.
- Interest in machine control technology and willingness to develop specialist skills.
Training & Development
We recognise this is a niche role within the Civil Engineering market. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, alongside access to third-party training providers to help the successful candidate progress and build expertise in machine control systems.
