- You will be given early responsibility and the opportunity to progress rapidly. Jensen Hughes encourage all Engineers to achieve chartered status via the Institute of Fire Engineers and offer help and support during the process.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for the fire engineering analysis of exciting projects involving new and existing buildings.
- You will work on a wide range of buildings such as high-rise office buildings, large retail complexes and airport developments, each providing unique challenges in developing an innovative fire engineering strategy.
- You will be tasked with analysing fire growth, means of escape, structural fire resistance and smoke control by various methods including computer modelling software such as Computational Fluid Dynamics. The preparation of technical reports and liaising with our clients, who include some of the largest building developers in the country, is an important part of your role.
Requirements and Qualifications:
To ensure you're ready to succeed from day one, you'll need to bring the following qualifications and experience:
- Right to work in the UK or Ireland.
- A Master's degree (achieved in the last two years or expected) in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical, or Physics.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
Additional qualifications/experience that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- A team-player who can work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Enthusiasm to innovate.
- A second European language is an advantage but not essential.
We've successfully welcomed graduate fire engineers from a variety of STEM Master's backgrounds, including Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical, and Physics. Many of these individuals have gone on to build outstanding careers with us.

Graduate Development Programme
