Overview
We are seeking a Trainee Buyer/Quantity Surveyor to work within the construction department on a full-time basis. We are open to individuals who require day release whilst studying towards the HNC and/or relevant degrees.
Reporting to Construction Director, the role of Trainee Buyer/Quantity Surveyor will support the company in day-to-day activities to ensure developments are delivered in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner.
Training will be provided on the job, with time being split between Material Buying and Surveying, under the supervision of the current Buyer and Surveyor respectively.
Material buying will include the production of material schedules, sourcing quotes, analysis of quotes, placing purchase ledger orders, checking and payment of invoices.
Surveying will include the procurement of sub-contractors, processing payments, raising variation orders, making sure sub-contractors have access to current information and drawings, ensuring compliance with contract obligations, dealing with final accounts and retention releases.
This is a trainee role intended to enable the successful candidate to gain the skills required to become a Quantity Surveyor & Buyer and later be responsible for their own projects.
The successful candidate must be looking for a career within the construction instruction and may already be on the pathway of making this a reality. Excellent organisational and communication skills are desirable for this position.
