Job Overview
Bevin Court is a busy hostel for 66 homeless men aged 18 years and over. We aim to support people who are homeless into gaining the skills needed to re-establish themselves in the community.
This role empowers you to apply your expertise in substance misuse to shape best practice, mentor colleagues whilst operating within the values, policies and procedures of St Annes Community Services. To work proactively with clients experiencing substance misuse challenges, supporting their journey towards successful resettlement in the community
Main duties of the job
*Duties Will Include:*
- Autonomous Client Support; Take ownership of a caseload of clients with substance use issues, delivering tailored support under guidance of the management team
- Empowerment Focused Planning; Collaborate with clients and key workers to co-create support plans and to promote recovery, tenancy stability and personal empowerment and growth
- Practical Life Skills Development; Equip clients with the skills needed to manage their own accommodation
- Community Integration; Support clients in building the confidence and networks needed to thrive in new accommodation and communities
- Team Development; Share your substance misuse knowledge with the wider team through informal training, guidance and modelling best practice
*The Candidate:*
- Its desirable (not essential) that you have some experience of working in a Support or Housing environment, ideally with the homeless, and an understanding of the needs of people with complex support issues and substance misuse challenges would be desirable but is not essential. More important is a respectful attitude and the ability to relate to others in a non-judgemental way.
- Its desirable (not essential) that you have some experience of working with clients whom have substance misuse issues
- A positive attitude to our client group
- An understanding of the some of the issues facing homeless people
- Proven track record of team work and working in a fast paced environment.
