HGV Yard Driver – Refuse Vehicle Solutions Ltd

Refuse Vehicle Solutions Ltd (RVS) are the UK's leading dedicated provider of refuse vehicles. Our growing portfolio of services includes the supply of new, quality used or electric converted refuse vehicles, vehicle remanufacturing, vehicle repairs and servicing, a nationwide mobile engineer network, breakdown service, parts and tyre departments, finance, and vehicle transportation.

Job Purpose:

As an HGV Yard Driver at RVS, you'll be responsible for the safe and timely movement of heavy goods vehicles within the yard and between operational areas. You'll support the workshop, logistics, and delivery teams by ensuring vehicles are positioned correctly and ready for inspection, maintenance, or dispatch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and maneuver HGVs (including refuse vehicles) within the yard and between designated areas
  • Position vehicles for loading, unloading, inspection, and maintenance
  • Conduct basic vehicle checks and report any issues or defects
  • Assist with reversing and docking procedures as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements and yard activity
  • Always ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Support workshop and logistics teams with vehicle preparation and coordination

Requirements

  • Valid HGV license (Class 2 minimum; Class 1 preferred)
  • Experience operating HGVs in a yard or depot environment
  • Strong understanding of vehicle safety and yard protocols
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
  • Flexible approach to working hours and tasks

Desirable

  • Forklift license or experience operating yard equipment
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of refuse vehicles
  • Familiarity with yard management systems

General Information:

· Start date: ASAP

· Full time, 45 hours per week, 07:30-17:00, Monday to Friday. Overtime as and when.

· Permanent contract (6-month probation period)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £28,000.00-£29,500.00 per year
