About the Role
We are seeking to appoint a one to one teaching assistant to join our staff. This important position is to support a pupil within Foundation. The role will require someone with a caring and patient nature who has experience of working with children with special educational needs including physical needs. The successful applicant must be able to use their own initiative, varying activities so they are accessible to the child. They will be looking to support the friendships of the child and integration into the class.
We are seeking a caring and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for a child with epilepsy within our school community. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to ensure the child has full access to learning opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual support to a pupil with epilepsy in both classroom and wider school settings.
- Implement individual learning plans and strategies, promoting progress in line with the child's abilities and targets.
- Monitor the child's wellbeing and respond appropriately to their medical and emotional needs.
- Work with staff and parents to ensure a consistent, inclusive, and supportive approach.
- Support the wider class as directed, while maintaining a focus on the child's needs.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and observations.
Essential Skills & Qualities
- Experience of working with children, ideally in an educational setting.
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, epilepsy and how it may impact learning and wellbeing.
- Ability to remain calm, caring, and proactive in responding to medical or emotional needs.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with staff, families, and professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's development.
Desirable
- First Aid training or willingness to undertake relevant training.
- Experience supporting children with medical or additional needs.
