About you

The ideal candidate will need excellent communication skills, excellent computer literacy, excellent organisational skills, the ability to lead and manage a team of individuals and have a passion for improving the services provided by Innovative care. The Senior Support Worker will need to be clear and concise in order to maintain both high standards and discipline in the staff group.

Responsibilities of the role

*To provide support to the Registered Manager, other seniors and residential workers.

*To deliver on the content of the Statement of Purpose of the home.

*To protect children and young people from risks to their health, welfare and development.

*To ensure that the home environment is appropriate and sensitive to the needs of the young people being looked after and is compliant with the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.

*To develop and maintain good working relationships with parents and other family members; social workers; school staff and other professionals with a concern for the young person's needs such as general practitioners or psychologists.

*To provide support and guidance to other staff, ensuring they are able to carry out their role effectively in line with company policy and procedures.

*To maintain a safe environment complying with health and safety and other legal requirements.

* To run shifts and help support staff that are on shift in the day to day running of the home.

*To stand in for the Registered Manager when they are on annual leave or sick and maintain the high standards and strategic overview prescribed by them.

*To support the staff team and other senior staff and to facilitate mentoring, supervisions and training as required.

*To undertake and complete daily paperwork and to make sure that staff team have understood and completed their tasks/paperwork.

*Handing over clear information to the Manager / other team members on shift once their shift finishes.

*To be actively involved with recruitment to ensure balanced, diverse teams with a wide variety of skills.

*To be active in the retention of 'key staff' in order to maintain appropriate levels of qualified staff members/diversity.

*Be actively involved in induction of new staff members through the passing on of knowledge of Innovative Cares, Philosophy and Policies and Procedures and their AWIF booklets and progress logs.

*To monitor staff progress of QCF qualification and provide encouragement, supervision and support to the learners.

*To help and support the manager to carry out yearly appraisals of staff to ensure quality.

*To ensure all staff files are up-to-date and contain only relevant documentation.

*To maintain professional knowledge and skills through reading, attending conferences/ training and other such activities and to achieve and maintain continuous professional development.

*To monitor ongoing expenditure and ensure staff operate the petty cash system within the required guidelines.

*To ensure the high standards of cleanliness and decoration of the home are maintained year-round.

*To be responsible for Quality Assurance of home files and paperwork.

*Driving License essential* - role requires staff to take young people to appointments/meetings and activities.

*Minimum age 21*- Regulations for the business require that staff have a minimum age gap between them and the young people we care for.

As part of the role a DBS check will be carried out on all applicants as required by law. (We will fund this)

Schedule:

13-hour shifts x3 one week (39hrs) x4 following week (52hrs)

On call rota x3 alternative weeks and when manager is on leave (£30 per night)

Ability to commute/relocate:

SA5 : reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
