Job Description

Are you an experienced Electricity Market Modeller with strong understanding of UK and/or European power and energy markets? Come and join our successful Energy & Utilities practice at PA's Economics & Investment Strategy capability to support our existing client base and our impressive growth strategy.

Our evidence-led and quantitative approach helps bring clarity in an increasingly complex world.

Our team is growing at pace and is working with some of the largest clients across Government and industry, applying economic principles and the latest analytical methods to develop practical solutions for regulation and policy, business strategy, econometric forecasting, competition policy and more.

Hybrid working - our approach is to be in the office or on client site a minimum of 2 days per week. However, the actual time you spend and where you spend it will vary by role or assignment, including up to 5 days per week on a client site.

We think you will be a great fit if you have:

  • Good understanding of UK and/or European power and energy markets and systems.
  • Strong experience in using PLEXOS and other statistical data analysis and data mining tools such as R, Python, Excel etc.
  • Experience of working on solutions that involve complex forecasting, modelling or simulation and interactions with market/regulatory reviews and policy evaluation.
  • Experience of working on complex economics projects in consulting, industry, or government.
  • A passion and ability for the practical application of energy economics.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A passion for team working.
  • Excellent written English

We know the skill-gap and 'somewhat need to tick every box' can get in the way of meeting brilliant candidates, so please don't hesitate to apply – we'd love to hear from you.

Please be aware that some of our UK roles at PA Consulting require a UK security clearance.

All PA people are required to undergo background checks and to achieve the Baseline Personnel Security Standard however, some UK roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting, where applicants must have at least 5 years of continuous residency in the UK.

We therefore ask that you only apply if you meet the residency requirements (i.e. you are a British citizen or have been resident in the UK for the past 5 years), as this is the prerequisite for a security clearance. If you're unsure about your eligibility, we encourage you to review the UK Government's guidance on security vetting before applying.
