About the role

We have a new opportunity to join our software development team, working initially within our Governance, Risk & Compliance product area. This is a diverse cross-functional role where you'll contribute to the design and development of core business applications across the organisation.

Your work will range from building new features and fixing bugs to supporting testing, resolving technical issues and identifying opportunities to streamline processes.

You'll help to keep us at the forefront of best practice and innovation over our wide-ranging IT estate. This includes embracing opportunities in ever-evolving digital technology. While the role has a strong focus on application development, it also involves working across the wider IT landscape, supporting continuous integration and deployment of pipelines and contributing to business-critical projects.

Daily activities include designing and developing business critical applications, placing a focus on enhancing our system performance to automate manual processes. You'll work within an agile environment which includes contributing to daily stand-ups that support testing and deployment through CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities also include creating and maintaining technical documentation, estimating development work, and providing ongoing support for both applications and automation tools.

About you

If you are enthusiastic about software development with a solid understanding of good development practices, then we want to hear from you.

Collaboration is at the heart of how we work, so we're looking for someone who thrives in large, cross-functional teams and brings a proactive attitude to learning new tools and technologies.

Your ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical, business-friendly solutions will make you a valued partner in driving digital progress across the organisation.

You'll demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, using your experience to analyse issues to develop effective solutions that support business needs. Your ability to work with precision in coding and debugging will ensure the reliability of our systems.

Success in this role will also rely on your experience working in Agile environments, where you'll manage your time effectively across multiple tasks and priorities. You'll be comfortable engaging with stakeholders across the business, explaining technical concepts in ways that are easily understood by non-technical colleagues.

Essential skills include:

  • Proficiency in C# / .NET
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, SQL, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with development tools such as VS Code (or other IDEs), GitHub, Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.

We welcome applications with varied experience and qualifications. However, to be successful in the role you will need a good background in the technology sector, either from a relevant IT degree, plus some work experience or from previous experience in an IT role (e.g., software/web development etc.).

If this sounds like the opportunity for you apply today

First stage interviews will take place 6-13 November via MS Teams

If successful at first stage you will be invited to a face to face interview at our office 19th and 27th November and 9th December.
