Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom Buckinghamshire Council Full time £25,000 - £40,000 per year

Overview
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)?
Join our SEND team at Buckinghamshire Council as an Inclusion Practitioner and help us promote inclusive practice in schools and settings across the county based within the South Locality Team.

About Us
Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.

Buckinghamshire is an ambitious, rapidly growing county, and our economy is one of the strongest in the country. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and ranks as one of the top rural areas to live in the UK and yet it is incredibly well connected– only an hour from London on the train. The county has a rich history and heritage and is the birthplace of the international Paralympic movement.

We are looking for motivated, ambitious and inspiring people to join us on our journey. You will be entitled to a range of different benefits to make sure you are happy both at work and at home.

About The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated educator with experience in working with Children and Young People (CYP) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). As an Inclusion Practitioner, you will be part of the SEND team and will provide high-quality guidance and modelling to support schools and settings in implementing effective strategies for inclusive practice. You will contribute to the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of evidence-based approaches and interventions to ensure the best possible outcomes for CYP.

Some of your day-to-day tasks will include
:

  • Support with individual plans and strategies, ensuring the focus is on being child-centred and needs-led.
  • Give advice on appropriate strategies to be used on an individual and whole school basis, promoting the inclusion of children with SEND.
  • Monitor the impact of additional support on follow-up visits.
  • Assist staff with monitoring, recording, and evaluating pupils' needs.
  • Keeping pupil records, databases and systems up to date regarding support provided.
  • Working collaboratively with SEND colleagues. including Education Health and Care Plan Co-Ordinators (EHCCos), Educational Psychologists, social care and health professionals, parents and carers, ensuring a strong and effective culture of collaboration.
  • Co-producing and delivering training on various SEND topics to schools/setting staff and other professionals within the SEND Service.

About You
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual with experience working with CYP with a range of SEND. You should have a sound knowledge of evidence-based approaches to support school-age children with SEND.

To be successful in this role, you will need
:

  • A relevant professional qualification.
  • Hold a current valid driving license and access to a car as the job involves travel to multiple schools during the working week.
  • Be prepared to continue professional development by attending training, collaborating with peers and initiating independent research.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • ICT skills, including the use of Microsoft applications and specialist systems.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.

On-the-go
:

Our 'on-the-go' roles mean you'll be moving around between different locations throughout the day. You won't need a fixed desk to work from, but you'll have access to our network where you can keep up to date with admin and the latest staff updates.
