The Senior Engineer role is an integral part of the engineering team and plays a key role in the co-ordination and delivery of bespoke mechanical product designs for non-standard applications based on our standard product range and design engineering support to a number of other departments including, Sales, Application Engineering and Manufacturing. The role requires application of design engineering and computer aided design (CAD) skills, interpretation of specifications, and team management in order to deliver solutions to time sensitive customer needs.

  1. Product design providing mechanically biased engineering solutions for customer applications including appropriate drawings, CAD model and BOM creation as well as checking work of others ensuring output is in line with internal and external standards.
  2. Review customer specific requirements including project specifications to identify understand the key deliverables and offer a suitable sealing solution.
  3. Develop an in depth understanding of the extensive range of sealing products AESSEAL offers.
  4. Bespoke design, for non-standard applications and equipment
  5. Modification of standard seals for non-standard equipment.
  6. Design of special test equipment to suit specific applications.
  7. Creation of new/special bills of materials to aid administration and purchasing functions.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Ensure that all solutions provided to customers meet the required specifications.
  2. Co-ordinating multi-skilled teams to ensure optimum efficiency and use of labour.
  3. Support training needs of team as required.
  4. Ensure procedures are maintained, upgraded and adhered to.
  5. Daily liaison with internal and external customers (including end users, sales engineers, and distributors from the UK and overseas)
  6. Daily liaison with workshops and inspection departments on engineering issues for both standard and special seals; solving problems and agreeing concessions.
  7. Where applicable, participate in appraisals of junior colleagues in conjunction with the Engineering manager.
