We're looking for passionate engineers to join DVLA's Agile Cloud teams, where they're building and supporting the platforms behind their cloud-first applications. You will be part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team where collaboration, curiosity and knowledge sharing are at the heart. Your work will have real impact, helping to shape digital services used by millions - from building the cloud platform behind the Driver and Vehicles Account to improving how citizens interact with government services. What You'll Be Doing
- Working in one of our Agile delivery squads, following a DevOps model owning the full lifecycle of your product - from design to deployment and beyond.
- Be part of a team responsible for designing, building and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS and/or Azure. Supporting DVLA's application teams by investing in a robust, scalable, and secure Cloud Platform.
- Helping to build and support their services using a modern cloud-first approach, with millions of transactions flowing through the systems you help create.
Responsibilities
- Developing code to meet user needs.
- Following best-practice guidelines and help to improve those guidelines.
- Writing clean, secure and well tested code.
- Coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues.
- Operating the services they build and identifying issues in production

Essential skills
To succeed here, you'll need some
hands-on experience working within a team deploying services to the cloud
. We're looking for someone who's already familiar with cloud environments and understands the value of collaboration in delivering robust, scalable solutions. If you've worked in a team using CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices, you'll feel right at home.

- Cloud experience
: You've delivered cloud-based services using modern tools and technologies - ideally with AWS or Azure. - Team player in dynamic environments
: You're comfortable working in teams that navigate ambiguity and change, and you understand Agile frameworks like Scrum or Kanban. - DevOps mindset
: You're familiar with CI/CD tooling and enjoy working in environments where development and operations go hand-in-hand. - Resilient systems thinking
: You're interested in distributed systems and know how to write code that's robust, scalable, and secure. - Infrastructure as Code
: You've worked with tools like CloudFormation or Terraform to manage infrastructure in a repeatable, reliable way.

Alongside your salary of £39,163, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency contributes £11,345 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
