Technical Trainer

Location: Huddersfield area

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Trainer to design and deliver high-quality training programmes for engineers, ensuring they achieve both internal and external qualifications, including IRTEC certifications.

You will be responsible for developing engaging training content, managing assessments, and supporting the entire training journey for engineers — from onboarding through to professional development. The role also includes delivering technical awareness sessions to non-technical employees to strengthen collaboration across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver technical training sessions for engineers at all levels.
  • Design, update, and maintain structured training materials and learning pathways.
  • Manage and support the full training and accreditation process, including IRTEC.
  • Deliver onboarding and refresher training programmes for new and existing engineers.
  • Work with technical teams to ensure training materials reflect the latest standards and practices.
  • Provide technical awareness training to non-technical employees.
  • Track progress and ensure all training and qualifications are completed on time.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to continuously improve training content and delivery.

What We're Looking For

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical or engineering principles.
  • Previous experience delivering technical or engineering training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Ability to engage both technical and non-technical learners.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in a technical training role within engineering or manufacturing.
  • Recognised training or teaching qualification (e.g. PTLLS, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of IRTEC or similar external accreditation processes.
