What does our successful Ashes and Mortuary Team Leader look like?

You'll be someone with exceptional attention to detail, empathy, and leadership skills, who ensures that every step — from the careful handling of the deceased to the secure return of ashes and personal effects — is carried out with precision and compassion. You'll be:

Experience in funeral services, healthcare, logistics, or customer service would be beneficial, and knowledge of mortuary procedures is essential - but most importantly, you'll bring the right attitude, empathy and care.

The Role

As Ashes and Mortuary Team Leader, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of both the Ashes and Drivers and Mortuary teams in Knutsford — ensuring compliance, quality and service excellence across all activities. You will:

• Manage, support and motivate a small team to deliver consistent, high-quality service
• Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews and one-to-one discussions
• Oversee the secure handling, storage and return of ashes, personal effects and jewellery
• Maintain full tracking and documentation of the deceased using Pure systems
• Ensure all mortuary practices meet Health and Safety standards
• Uphold a clean, respectful and compliant working environment
• Liaise with Customer Care and other departments to resolve any issues with professionalism and empathy
• Identify opportunities for improvement, training and development within your team
