Purpose of Role

We are seeking an experienced and technically minded Senior l Facilities Manager to manage operational and client performance of a key facilities management contract with the county council.

Job Description

This is a pivotal role overseeing a team of 13 multi-skilled engineers and 5 direct reports (including Admin, Assistant FM, and Office Manager). The position combines strategic oversight, client relationship management, and hands-on operational leadership to ensure the contract consistently meets and exceeds its service level and compliance expectations. You'll be accountable for driving engineering performance, ensuring technical compliance (SFG20), optimising CAFM usage, and maintaining strong relationships with both the client and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a team of 13 multi-skilled engineers and 5 office-based staff.
  • Ensure all planned and reactive maintenance activities meet contractual SLA/KPI targets.
  • Oversee technical compliance and statutory maintenance aligned to SFG20 standards.
  • Drive CAFM system performance for accurate reporting, asset management, and audit readiness.
  • Maintain robust client relationships at all levels, acting as the key point of contact for operational delivery.
  • Lead safety, compliance, and engineering excellence through a proactive and accountable culture.
  • Identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives across operations and service delivery.

Essential Qualifications/Skills

  • Proven experience managing multi-site or large single-site FM operations within a technical, government, county council, or PFI environment.
  • Strong engineering background with technical qualifications
  • Excellent client management and stakeholder engagement skills with a track record of building trusted partnerships.
  • Experienced in managing and developing multi-skilled engineering teams.
  • Confident managing SLA/KPI performance, compliance regimes, and CAFM systems.
  • Knowledge of SFG20, statutory maintenance, and asset management best practices.
  • Holds or working towards IOSH Managing Safely and/or IWFM qualification.
  • Commercially aware, organised, and capable of leading teams in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
