Description

We are looking for a Multi Skilled Supervisor/ Operative to join our quarry team at Berkswell Quarry, Cornets End Lane, Meriden, Coventry, West Midlands, CV7 7LH

Reporting directly to the Quarry Manager/Assistant Quarry Manager, the successful candidate will make sure that the daily operation of the quarry is being run to the highest standards of safety and have a "hands on" role to ensure the timeliest and cost-effective production of all materials produced on site. The multi skilled role would involve the operation of the Sand and gravel processing plant, operating loading shovel to feed the processing plant and haulage lorries, planned maintenance and weighbridge distribution all working as part of a team. Comprehensive training will be provided to maximise individual potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and actively promote CEMEX's H&S Standards
  • Review equipment and production conditions at all times.
  • Ensure that plant availability is maximised.
  • Ensure a quality operation and materials that meet customers' demands.
  • Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained within the department.
  • Carry out planned maintenance on static processing plant.
  • Working as part of a team in the production of sand and Gravel.
  • Your roll will allow for job rotation between the processing plant operations, Loading Shovel, excavator, Weighbridge operations & maintenance tasks.
  • Daily inspections using Checkproof and report faults directly to your line your manager.
  • You will be responsible for the Health and Safety of yourself and your colleagues and any visitors to the site.
  • Good Communication between colleagues and when contractors are on site.
  • Keeping housekeeping too high a standard.
  • Flexibility regards tasks day to day and working hours, Overtime may be required.
  • Developmental responsibilities for the role of Supervisor, would include the following, so any
  • Experience in these areas, would be advantageous.
  • Assisting in the day-to-day management of the site by providing work instructions to others on site to ensure effective completion of daily tasks.
  • Completion of required processes and procedures to ensure all activities under your control are conducted & comply with current legislation (Health & Safety)
Skills Required

Skills Required:

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of quarry extraction and processing. They will also have experience of working within a similar role/industry. They will also:

  • Ideally have a good understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures associated with quarrying/site operations.
  • As a minimum, have training and qualifications for operating Mobile Plant (Preferred: Loading Shovel including experience of feeding processing plant hopper and LGV loading)
  • Be an effective team player that can motivate and inspire other individuals to engage and comply with business policies, targets, goals and standards.
  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, responsible, have excellent inter-personal skills and have a flexible attitude.
  • NVQ level 2 Loading shovel / Excavator would be an advantage but not essential as all training will be provided.
  • Supervisory experience in a production-based environment is desired, but full training would be provided as a development opportunity
