The driving force behind our success has always been the people of AspenTech. What drives us, is our aspiration, our desire and ambition to keep pushing the envelope, overcoming any hurdle, challenging the status quo to continually find a better way. You will experience these qualities of passion, pride and aspiration in many ways — from a rich set of career development programs to support of community service projects to social events that foster fun and relationship building across our global community.
The Role
AspenTech's Digital Grid Management's Network Model Manager (NMM) is a high growth area in our business that unlocks an electric distribution utility's ability to monitor, manage, control, and optimize the grid. As a Power Systems Engineer working on NMM projects, you will use subject matter knowledge in power systems engineering, and familiarity with the Common Information Model (CIM) standard industry data ontology, to create critical data integration paths across NMM solutions. You will use your experience working with distribution and transmission network data and business processes, leading on advising utility clients through all aspects of the successful solution implementation. You will use your experience in engaging with all levels of the utility, from field crews to executive management, to act as a trusted source of subject matter knowledge regarding electric utility data management. You will have the opportunity to work with other AspenTech functional teams, such as Product and Software Development. You will provide significant input into guidance on the future direction of NMM products and as well as being a "voice for the utility" within AspenTech. As a Principal you will also have the opportunity to contribute towards technical mentoring for junior staff within a collaborative, mutually supportive work environment, as well as further progress your own technical skills with complex software delivery and modern industrial challenges.
Your Impact
- Lead on NMM business process reviews for electric utility clients to understand "As-Is" and document "To-Be" process mappings.
- Lead on contractual requirements analysis on NMM projects identifying areas of potential concern for project teams.
- Lead on providing advice to customers on functional aspects of NMM software, ranging from supporting analysis of existing functionality against requirements, through to providing training that involves subject matter input.
- Lead on data mapping exercises from origin data sources to NMM native data formats, specifically CIM v14, v15, v16, v17, and 100, and CGMES and 3.0.0.
- Produce and review documentation detailing requirements for data translation modules.
- Conduct data mapping reviews to ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality.
- Plan and undertake data translation acceptance testing as part of project implementation phase.
- Lead on technical support to sales and proposals teams, including commentary on electrical utility data management requirements for preliminary scoping of customer solutions.
What You'll Need
- Degree-level education in Electrical and/or Power Systems Engineering, post-graduate and doctoral level preferred.
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience.
- Significant experience with data management practices within the electrical utility industry, specifically using CIM and CGMES standards.
- Ability to travel to domestic and international customer sites.
- Significant experience in working with utility operations or engineering support with electrical utility control systems (NMM, SCADA, EMS, GMS, DMS, OMS, DERMS).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in providing technical leadership to small teams in a commercial software project delivery setting.
- Strong commitment to providing superior customer service.
