Are you a culinary wizard with a passion for creating nutritious and delicious meals for little ones? Due to expanding Rainbows Day Nursery is looking for an additional talented cook to sprinkle some extra magic into our kitchen
Job title: Nursery Chef
Salary: Dependant upon applicant
Contract hours : up to 24 hours per week
Purpose of post
· To organise, cook and prepare a healthy balanced diet for children from birth to 5 years.
· Give support to other team members throughout the nursery.
· Work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.

Responsible to: Head Cook/ Nursery Manager / Deputy manager
Duties and responsibilities
· Budget holder for the provision of food and associated goods for the nursery and be responsible for the purchase of such provisions.
· Keep weekly accounts of such expenditure.
· Be responsible, in conjunction with the manager, for planning healthy and balanced menus.
· Prepare meals according to dietary requirements where necessary.
· Ensure meals / snacks are safely prepared, nutritionally balanced, of good quality and appropriate in quantity following recommendations in Public Health England The Eatwell Guide
· Be clear about the regulations relating to allergies and provide adequate information to parents about the contents of meals provided.
· Co-ordinate serving the meals and snacks throughout the day.
· Wash-up crockery, cutlery and all equipment used to prepare meals.
· Be responsible for hygiene and risk assessment within the kitchen area, including all relevant record keeping for the post.
· Be responsible for food safety within the nursery including all safety checks relating to food storage and preparation.
· Maintain an agreed high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen area.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and you will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check. You will be asked to make a criminal conviction declaration if you are shortlisted for the post. Guidance about whether a conviction or caution should be disclosed can be found on the Ministry of Justice website.
All applicants will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide two suitable references.
