Young People Support Worker

YOU WILL NEED A MINIMUM OF 12 MONTHS RECENT EXPERIENCE WORKING WITHIN A CARE RELATED ROLE WITHIN THE UK.

WE HAVE POSTIONS AVAILABLE FOR:
- DAY STAFF - 8am to 8pm
- NIGHT STAFF - 8pm to 8am (WAKING NIGHTS)
Duties:
- Provide support and assistance to young people living within a Children's Residential Home in Plymouth with learning disabilities and other developmental disabilities such as Autism, and ADHD etc.
- Implement and follow support plans to ensure the well-being and safety of the young people in your care.
- Collaborate with other staff members, including a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement behavioural interventions.
- Monitor and document behaviour changes.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all regulations.
- Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
- (Waking Nights) Assist with bedtime routines and overnight support and supervision.
- Able to work shifts as to monthly rota and cover additional shifts if required (sometimes at short notice).
Experience Required:
- Previous experience working with young people years of age) that can exhibit challenging behaviours along with some developmental disabilities is required and this must have been within the UK.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and as a lone worker.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Compassionate and empathic approach to other people in your care.

THE POSITION IS CLASSED AS TEMPORARY, ONGOING, WITH A POSSIBILITY OF A PERMANENT POSITION AFTER A QUALIFYING PERIOD.
Please note that this position does not require a nursing degree. However, individuals with a nursing background are encouraged to apply as their experience may be beneficial in providing quality support & care.
