At Firstco, we consult, design, build and support a range of control & communication systems within transport and other critical national infrastructure industries.

We are currently recruiting for an engineering manager to run the day to day activities across several support contracts based at Heathrow Airport.

Engineering Manager Role

  • Technically lead the engineers in supporting the Systems Services to Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL) 365 days a year 24 hours a day.
  • Schedule all planned and reactive maintenance works.
  • Support the Firstco Account Manager in all aspects of the role and assign resources to projects when requested from other project teams.
  • Understand the constraints of working within an operational rail environment and plan works in accordance with HAL planning schedule held weekly.
  • Administer and/or provide planned and reactive maintenance input data to Maximo.
  • Utilise the output data from Maximo, MAFR and Power BI to provide monthly reporting to the HAL Engineering Management Teams.
  • Identify potential efficiencies and opportunities in maintenance processes and encourage the engineering team to do the same.
  • Due to the nature of railway projects, some works will be required to be undertaken over night shifts to meet operational constraints.

Key Responsibilities - Including but not limited to:

  • Weekly resource schedule of all staff.
  • Managing all maintenance activities (reactive & planned) are captured in Maximo.
  • Ensure all Risk Assessments and Method Statements are up to date and approved in the HAL CMO.
  • Managing the spares holding and ensuring stores, office areas, workshop(s) and equipment room(s) are presentable and safe at all times.
  • Managing end to end System design of minor works projects.
  • Attend monthly HAL review meetings to report on engineering team activities, risks, issues, ideas and plans for future activities.
  • Ensure a named team member is designated as deputy in the EM's absence.
  • Work with the Firstco Account Manager on sales quotes.
  • Obtain necessary passes for engineers to work in track-side and sub-surface rail locations, and in secure environments.
