Remote, United Kingdom International Centre for Community-Driven Research Full time

About the organisation

The Centre for Community-Driven Reseponse (CCDR), is a nurse-led non-profit organisation (charity), primarily staffed by volunteers. CCDR implements nurse-led virtual clinics, conducts research on patient and stakeholder experience in health systems and convenes networks to increase collaborative approaches to health system, aid and development challenges.

About the volunteer role

We are looking for care-experienced young adults (aged 18–24) to help design and lead a new project exploring pathways into careers in healthcare, aid, development, and public health. The project will aim to improve access to networks, mentorship, and opportunities for care-experienced young people who are interested in making a difference in their communities and beyond.

You'll work as part of a small team of peer leaders to shape the project's direction — whether that's designing a mentorship scheme, creating digital content, running workshops, or organising events with professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-design and lead project activities alongside staff and partner organisations.
  • Reach out to care-experienced peers to gather insights and involve them in the project.
  • Build relationships with mentors and professionals in relevant fields.
  • Help plan and deliver workshops, events, or media content.
  • Support promotion through social media, blogs, or storytelling.
  • Reflect on learning and share feedback to shape future opportunities.

Skills & Qualities:

  • Care-experienced (foster care, kinship care, residential care, or leaving care).
  • Interest in health, aid, development, or public service.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable and proactive — willing to learn new things.
  • No prior experience required — just motivation and curiosity.

Support Provided:

  • Support via coordination to meet peers and lead change
  • Reference and certification upon completion

Please note this is a volunteer role.

Time Commitment:

Flexible, approx. 4–6 hours per week for 3–6 months depending on project(s) identified.

Location:

Hybrid (online meetings)

Job Type: Volunteer

Pay: £1.00 per year

Application question(s):

  • Are you care-experienced (foster care, kinship care, residential care, or leaving care)?

Work Location: Remote
