We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fleet Auditor to join our team. This role is critical in delivering a robust programme of audit and assurance activities across the Fleet Function, ensuring our operations remain safe, compliant, and efficient.

As a Fleet Auditor, you will support both operational assurance audits and quality management system audits (ISO You will play a key role in ensuring EMR continues to meet the requirements of its Safety Certificate and retains relevant external certifications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plan and deliver internal audits across the Fleet Function in line with the agreed audit schedule and business needs.
  • Conduct supplier audits to assess compliance with operational and quality standards.
  • Support assurance programmes, including operational audits and quality management system audits (ISO 9001).
  • Manage the audit process from scoping through to close-out, ensuring stakeholders are engaged throughout.
  • Produce clear, evidence-based audit reports, capturing agreed findings and actions.
  • Track and support the closure of audit actions to ensure effective implementation.
  • Monitor performance trends and contribute to improvement initiatives.
  • Enhance audit processes and frameworks, supporting the development of best practice.
  • Maintain auditing competence, keeping up to date with industry standards and practices.
  • Identify and share best practice from within EMR and across the wider industry.

About you

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Educated to HNC level (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Recognised internal and external auditor qualifications.
  • Excellent knowledge of quality management systems, particularly ISO 9001.
  • Proven analytical ability, with the skills to constructively challenge and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build effective relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • The capability to interpret and apply standards and technical documentation with accuracy.
  • Excellent written communication skills, producing clear, evidence-based reports.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

An understanding of rail vehicle maintenance practices and operations, including relevant principles and standards, is desirable, along with competence in depot safety rules and PTS.

While located in Derby this role will be expected to work across all EMR Fleet Locations where required.

EMR has a hybrid working policy which is applicable for this role. This means the role can be based at home 2-3 days and onsite 2-3 days per week. Should you wish to work full time on site, this is also an option.
