This exciting investment plan aims to connect up to 19GW of clean energy, support over 11,000 jobs, and accelerate the UK's journey to Net Zero by 2035.As part of this campaign, we are delighted to announce we have several new opportunities for Senior Project Managers to join our business and be part of a growing team, bringing your expertise to help deliver real changes that positively impact communities and climate goals.RoleThe position of Senior Project Manager sits within SP Transmission and will report to the Lead Project Manager in Development or Delivery Projects. In this role you'll be responsible for leading a multi-disciplined team to deliver major Capital investment projects within the SP Transmission licence area.What you'll be doingLead the development / delivery of a portfolio of complex capital projects, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and adherence to budget, quality, and timelines.Own project governance - manage contracts, financial forecasting, and risk mitigation throughout the full lifecycle.Drive performance and efficiency by identifying and implementing innovation, value engineering, and best practices to outperform price control targets.Develop and manage project programmes, ensuring accurate scheduling and resource planning across multi-disciplinary teams.Managing a range of multi-discipline internal teams and external contractors and ensuring delivery of key project outputs in line with business targets.Champion stakeholder engagement—build strong relationships internally (design, PMO, construction, procurement, operations) and externally (local authorities, contractors, regulators, community).Ensure safe and compliant construction delivery, maintaining operational access and mitigating environmental risks.Deliver quality outcomes - oversee testing, handover, and ensure accurate asset data entry into corporate systems.Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned, project reviews, and sharing best practices across the wider portfolio.What you'll bring Proven leadership in complex project development/delivery, preferably within electrical infrastructure or transmission projects.Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).Expertise in project management methodologies, risk management, and contract administration (NEC, JCT, FIDIC).A working knowledge of the technical characteristics and workings of the Electricity Transmission System.A working knowledge of infrastructure planning and consenting requirements.Financial acumen - forecasting, cost control, and capital efficiency planning.Deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation, particularly CDM regulations.Managing stakeholders and Governance for allocated projects.Ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders without direct line authority.Strategic problem-solving skills - able to devise solutions for complex challenges and drive efficiency.Excellent organisational and planning capability, managing long-term, multi-year projects and multi-disciplinary resources.Commitment to quality and continuous improvement, ensuring best practice adoption across the portfolio.Driving license (travel across SPEN locations required).Minimum Criteria Experience in a programme management environment of multiple projects and disciplines.Working knowledge of NEC 3 / 4 contract frameworks.Experience of managing a complex programme of contracts, multiple work programmes and commercial contracts.What's in it for you As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
