Overview:

The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and delivering technology solutions that align with business objectives and enterprise architecture standards. This role translates business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure solution designs, ensuring interoperability and future readiness across the technology landscape. The Solution Architect collaborates closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and other architects to deliver value-driven solutions that support organisational growth and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Design end-to-end technology solutions that meet business requirements and align with enterprise architecture principles and standards.
  • Translate business objectives and requirements into solution architectures, ensuring scalability, interoperability, and compliance with governance, security, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain solution design artefacts (e.g., architecture diagrams, integration patterns, high-level design documents) to support project delivery and ongoing operations.
  • Engage with third-party vendors to assess product capabilities and constraints.
  • Collaborate with business partners, project managers, developers, and other architects to ensure consistent implementation of solution designs.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the solution delivery lifecycle, from requirements analysis to deployment and support.
  • Participate in architectural review boards and governance processes to ensure solution quality and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Advise on the integration of new systems, platforms, and technologies, ensuring seamless interoperability with existing solutions and alignment with data and security requirements.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their applicability to the organisation's business and technology landscape.
  • Support portfolio management by providing estimates (duration and financial) for demand items and ensuring solutions are prioritised and delivered in alignment with business value objectives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the IT function.

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).

Essential skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge across infrastructure, applications, data, integration, cloud, and security domains.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and influencing skills across both business and technical domains.
  • Ability to provide solution assurance and governance across multiple projects and programmes.
  • Familiarity with portfolio management, technology investment planning, and value realisation aligned to business strategy.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business orientation.
  • Collaborative and able to work across boundaries to achieve results.
  • Committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into actionable solution designs and roadmaps.
  • Experience with creation and maintenance of solution design artefacts and standards.
  • Proven track record of delivering technology solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Experience in transportation, mobility, or related industries (advantageous).
  • Significant experience in solution architecture or related roles within complex, multi-business-unit organisations.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver solutions that achieve business alignment, scalability, interoperability, and compliance with industry frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Experience using ArchiMate modelling framework and Enterprise Architecture tools such as BizzDesign, Orbus Infinity, or similar.
