Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and experienced VAN OWNER DRIEVR to join our team as a Delivery Driver for DPD STOKE ON TRENT as a self employee. The successful candidate will bring own van, Hire and Reward Insurance, Goods in Transit Insurance, Van Insurance, V5, and He or She will be responsible for transporting goods efficiently and safely to various locations, ensuring timely deliveries. This role requires excellent driving skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to operate flatbed vehicles. The ideal applicant will have previous warehouse experience and strong communication skills to coordinate deliveries effectively. This is a paid position suitable for individuals with a valid driver's licence who are committed to maintaining high standards of safety and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate commercial vehicles, including flatbed lorries, for delivery purposes
  • Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to meet schedules
  • Load and unload goods using appropriate equipment, ensuring proper handling and safety procedures
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to identify any mechanical issues or safety concerns
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including documentation and signatures
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch teams and clients regarding delivery times or issues
  • Assist in warehouse operations as needed, including stock organisation and inventory management
  • Ensure compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies during transportation

Skills

  • Proven experience in commercial driving and delivery roles, preferably with flatbed vehicles
  • Strong driving skills with a clean driving record and valid driver's licence
  • Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshooting
  • Previous warehouse experience is advantageous for handling goods efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with team members and clients
  • Ability to operate flatbed trucks safely and securely during loading, transport, and unloading processes
  • Organised with good time management skills to adhere to schedules and deadlines
  • Physically fit to handle loading/unloading tasks and long periods of driving
