DevOps Lead – FinTech Market leader – Birmingham Based - £70-100k

Leading global FinTech seeks a DevOps Lead to join, lead and grow their DevOps team based from their Birmingham HQ 3 days per week, with 2 days per week flexi working (working from home).

You will join a very established FinTech business with offices across the Globe
, who face volatility in their market, meaning increased reliance on my client's software.
Already providing more than 12% of the market software
, my client is in a strong position to build on their leading position, through continuing to invest in their software and further new client growth in Europe and elsewhere globally.

Their DevOps team owns the foundations for this growth. The challenges they are facing now are the following:

  • Security while moving to the cloud
  • Automation thanks to Infrastructure as Code
  • Reliability while scaling the platform for the growing customer base.
  • FinOps: Find the best balance between costs and performance.

They are looking for a DevOps Leader
to take over, manage and grow the team
, including creating the Vision DevOps within the team. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Decide on the right tech stack, tools and plan to reach the DevOps vision
  • Lead and mentor the team of DevOps engineers. You will provide guidance, support, and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture to ensure the successful execution of DevOps initiatives.
  • With the team, using agile methodologies:
  • Manage and optimize the production, QA, and development environments to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of our software products.
  • Design and implement robust monitoring systems that proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and system failures.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, to streamline deployment processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Drive improvements to the platform and tooling used to best technologies to deliver a reliable, secure and performance platform.
  • Automate and streamline our CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust quick builds and deployments.
  • Respond to incidents on mission critical systems for some ensuring the platform remains secure and highly available and minimising client and market impact.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies within the business to help improve the reliability, performance, scalability and security of the tools and platform we operate.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps Lead in other countries to share knowledge and develop DevOps good practices that will be shared across the group

Salary: £70k-100k basic + bonus + benefits

Key skills & experience sought:

  • Proven DevOps leadership experience, managing a team, setting high standards and driving growth
  • Proven experience in a DevOps/SRE or similar role, preferably in a software development or SaaS environment, with experience in FinTech or Energy Trading (ETRM) or related
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure Cloud and Containerisation technologies
  • Strong proficiency in Automation Scripting
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or equivalent products.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on driving solutions in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as Azure certifications, DevOps certifications, or industry-specific certifications are advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
